Erdman, a Cogdell Spencer company, has announced that it has broken ground on a new 150,000 sq. ft. hospital and an adjacent 120,000 sq. ft. physician office complex in Janesville, Wis.

The three-story hospital facility will be constructed on a 50-acre site owned by SSM Health Care of Wisconsin and Dean Health System in Madison.

Development of the $140 million new community hospital campus project is a collaboration between, Erdman, architectural design firm Shepley Bulfinch of Boston, Mass., and Janesville-based construction firm J.P. Cullen & Sons.

“The entire project team is aligned to not only be focused on the patient and the patient experience, as well as on visiting family members, the facility staff, and the physicians,” said Scott Ransom, president and CEO for Erdman. “This facility will create a significant reflection on healthcare in Janesville, and the development process supports an enduring commitment by SSM Health Care of Wisconsin and Dean Health System.”

The new hospital is scheduled to open in 2010.
