Falls Church, Va.-based Inova Health Systems filed a certificate of public need with the state of Virginia to build a new full-service hospital in Loudoun County, according to a report in the Washington Business Journal.

The proposed hospital would include an emergency department, medical-surgical beds and up to eight operating rooms, among other technologies and services, according to the report.

The state's review process can take up to 12 months, and Inova hopes to open the hospital by Dec. 2013.
