The Interim Louisiana State University Public Hospital in New Orleans is planning to cut 300 jobs in response to $24 million in state budget cuts, according to the Times-Picayune. According to the report, the hospital is currently overstaffed, a result of adding workers following Hurricane Katrina.

Hospital leaders are considering reductions in cancer screenings and pay for some faculty doctors as well as changes in medical education programs as a result of the budget cuts.
